Hi, my name is Karla Deacon.
I decided to start this blog based on my lifetime love of, and experience with, horses. Ever since I can remember all I have wanted was to be around horses.
As a young person I took every opportunity to learn about and be with them. When I married my husband we began “living my dream” at Spruce Meadow Farm in Clarence, New York.
For the past 25 years we have owned and operated the farm. We have a large riding lesson program and summer camp program, we hold clinics and horse shows, and board horses.
I have had the opportunity to learn from, and improve my riding and horsemanship with, many knowledgeable people in the horse world.
Perhaps the greatest influence on how I look at horses and riding comes from Walter Zettl, whose emphasis on patience, harmony and understanding is my guiding philosophy.
Currently I share my home with my husband, son, 40 horses, a goat, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 3 birds and 2 rabbits…I guess you could say that I love animals 🙂
My goal with this blog is to help fellow horse lovers discover good products at decent prices that truly help with their horses, hence the name “Best Horse Supplies”; and also to offer helpful tips and information that I have picked up in my journey with horses.
